Infra DigiTech Launches a Sunlight-Readable Outdoor GPS Clock with Temperature, Humidity and Date on One Face

Infra DigiTech Pvt Ltd, the Bengaluru manufacturer of GPS synchronised clocks, nurse calling and queue management systems, today launched the Outdoor GPS Clock — a digital clock built for gates, yards, railway platforms, stadiums and campuses, where the clock everybody checks hangs outside and the afternoon sun falls on its face.

The company's GPS clock range has until now been an indoor one: seven-segment LED digits in 2.3 to 12 inch heights for plants, offices, server rooms and labour rooms, and a master–slave system for pharmaceutical cleanrooms and railway installations. The new model keeps the same satellite time source and moves the display outdoors on P10 LED modules — the high-brightness outdoor LED technology behind scoreboards and highway signs — in an MS powder-coated cabinet sealed against rain, dust and coastal air.

More than the time

Because the face is a dot-matrix rather than fixed digits, it can carry more than the hour. A temperature and humidity sensor built into the clock puts live readings on the second line — T: 27.7 °C, RH: 65 % — and a third line shows the date with the day of the week. Three layouts are standard: time alone for a gate or platform; time with temperature and humidity for a loading dock, a sports ground or a plant entrance; and time with weather and the date for a campus, a hospital entrance or a town square. The lines, labels and digit heights are configured to the site, and the face is built to any size from the same modules.

Every clock carries its own GPS receiver, so a clock at the gate and a clock in the yard read the same second with no cable between them and no connection to the customer's network. An internal real-time clock carries the time through a lost satellite fix or a power cut; there is nothing to set after installation. Clocks are built single-sided for a wall, or two-, three- or four-sided on a hanging mount so a clock in the middle of a yard or a concourse reads from every direction.

Where it goes up

The clock is aimed at the places an indoor clock cannot serve: factory gates, time offices, loading bays and yards; railway and metro platforms, bus terminals and toll plazas; stadium stands, athletics tracks and swimming pools; airport aprons and car parks; university and IT campuses; hospital ambulance bays and OPD entrances; pharma and food docks where the conditions outside must be visible; ports, mines, petrol pumps and construction sites; and temples, parks and public buildings. It pairs with the company's indoor clocks so that the whole site reads the same satellite second.

A clock outdoors has two jobs an indoor clock never has: survive the weather and beat the sun. We built this one for exactly those two jobs, then gave the face the room to show what people outside actually want to know — the time, how hot it is, and what day it is.
