Signavanc Ultra wired nurse call system

A full LCD nurse station on cable your building may already have. Every call appears with its room, its bed and how long it has been waiting — over an in-house 26-port hub running on ordinary 4-core cable, with no Cat 5/6 anywhere in the specification. It is the wired system Indian hospitals ask for most.

The nurse station

Who is calling, and how long they have waited

A panel that shows a number tells a nurse where to go. A console that shows a running timer tells her where to go first. Every active call sits on the Ultra screen in its own colour with a live counter, and the footer carries the shift's average turnaround time and total call count — the two numbers a ward sister is asked for at handover.

  • Every active call on screen with its room or bed and how long it has been waiting
  • Colour-coded by call type — nurse, pantry, toilet, housekeeping, Code Blue
  • 5-character alphanumeric token with a voice announcement as the call arrives
  • Turn Over Time — the ward's average response, held on the footer bar with the shift call count
  • Calls latch on screen until a nurse clears them — nothing auto-dismisses

At the bedside

Five buttons, lit, and a pendant in reach

The bedside panel separates what the patient actually needs. Nurse and Code Blue are clinical; pantry and housekeeping are not — and routing them separately stops a request for water arriving at the station looking identical to a patient in trouble. How many of those a ward takes is decided at order stage: the 2-module unit carries call, reset and Code Blue, or swaps reset for housekeeping and takes a long press on call as the reset; the 3-module unit carries all four; the 4-module unit adds pantry. Every button is illuminated and IP65-rated, and the pendant on its lead has an emergency button for a patient who cannot reach the wall.

  • IP65 illuminated stainless-steel buttons, backlit for a dark ward
  • 2-module unit — call, reset and Code Blue, or call, Code Blue and housekeeping
  • 3-module unit — call, reset, Code Blue and housekeeping
  • 4-module unit — the same, with pantry added
  • Handheld pendant on a lead with its own emergency button, within reach in bed
  • Pull-cord and door indicator wire back to the calling unit on 2-core cable

The other two call points that matter

Multi-colour corridor door indicator for the Signavanc Ultra nurse call system

Multi-colour door indicator

Above each door, lit in a different colour for each call type — so a nurse walking the corridor reads not just which room is calling but what it needs. Colour mapping is set to your hospital's protocol, and it blinks under Code Blue.

Waterproof toilet and shower pull-cord call point

Toilet & shower pull-cord

Waterproof, and hung long enough to be reached from the floor. On the Ultra console the call arrives in its own colour marked as a toilet call, so a nurse knows before leaving the station that someone may be down in a washroom rather than waiting in bed.

26-port nurse call hub manufactured in-house by Infra DigiTech, with power, receive and transmit indicators
Built in Bengaluru

The 26-port hub is ours

Every calling unit on the ward terminates at this hub, and we design and build it ourselves at our Bengaluru facility — board, firmware and enclosure. For a hospital buying infrastructure meant to run for a decade that is the part worth asking about: spares, board-level repair and expansion come from the people who made it, not from an importer waiting on a shipment.

Power, receive and transmit indicators on the front let a biomedical engineer see at a glance whether the hub is talking to the ward — a two-second diagnosis before anyone opens a cabinet.

Beyond the call

Reporting, reminders and a second screen

Everything here runs on the on-site server we supply — nothing depends on an internet connection reaching the ward.

Reports at the nurse station

Each station downloads its own ward's call log — every call, who cleared it and how long it took. That is the report a ward sister actually uses in a shift handover. Turn Over Time comes down with it, for whatever period is asked for — a shift, a week, a month, a quarter, or between two dates.

Centralised reporting for the hospital

Consolidated reports across every station are held on the on-site server we supply, so administration can see response performance for the whole hospital without depending on an internet connection. Bringing the stations together needs one Cat 5/6 run with an RJ45 jack from each nurse-station server to the central server — a small addition to the cable schedule, but one to catch at drawing stage rather than after the wards are finished.

HIS / EMR integration, if you want it

Optional. Where a hospital wants nurse-call activity inside its clinical systems, Signavanc Ultra integrates with your HIS or EMR. Decline it and the per-ward and centralised reports behave exactly as they do now.

Reminders scheduled against a bed

Type what has to happen, pick the bed or the whole ward, set the time and a card colour, and it appears on the console when due — repeating until that bed's calling unit is reset. Medicine, a blood sample, a drip bottle: anything that has to happen at a time rather than on request.

Mini nurse kiosk or tab

The same live screen on a compact display or tablet at a second point on the ward, so calls are seen without walking back to the main station on a long corridor.

Reminders screen of the nurse call software, scheduling a prompt for a bed with a time, card colour and voice file

Setting one takes about ten seconds

The ward sets these itself — no call to us. Type the prompt, choose the bed or the whole ward, set the time and a colour, attach a voice file if you want it announced, and save. Untick Active to stop one firing without losing it.

Signavanc Ultra at a glance

Bedside call points, pull-cords, Code Blue and NABH requirements work the same way across our whole nurse call range — they are described in full on the nurse calling system hub. If an LCD console is more than the ward needs, the Signavanc Lite dot-matrix system covers the same clinical requirement at the lowest cost per bed.

FAQ

Signavanc Ultra — common questions

Cabling, capacity, reporting and what Ultra deliberately leaves out.

Does Signavanc Ultra measure how quickly nurses respond?

Yes. The console keeps a Turn Over Time — the average gap between a call being raised and a nurse clearing it — on the footer bar beside the live calls, and it is calculated on the system from the first day after installation rather than being compiled later. That gives a ward sister an immediate read on the shift she is running, and gives administration a continuously recorded figure to compare wards with or to put in front of an NABH assessor. The per-call detail behind the average stays in the ward and centralised reports, and the TOT itself downloads for whatever period you ask for — a shift, a week, a month or between two dates — so a ward can be measured against its own past rather than against a target somebody set. Signavanc Lite, the other wired model, has no reporting module and does not calculate TOT.

What is the Signavanc Ultra nurse call system?

Signavanc Ultra is our wired nurse call platform with an LCD nurse station. IP65 illuminated bedside panels, handheld pendants and toilet pull-cords connect through a 26-port hub over ordinary 4-core cable to a console that lists every active call with its room or bed and how long it has been waiting. It supports up to 56 calling units per nurse station, drives multi-colour corridor door indicators, holds per-ward and centralised reports on an on-site server, offers optional HIS / EMR integration, and can carry scheduled reminders for staff.

Is the 26-port hub made by you?

Yes. The 26-port hub is designed and manufactured in-house at our Bengaluru facility, like the rest of the system. That matters for a hospital buying a system meant to last a decade — spares, board-level repairs and expansion all come from the people who built it, not from an importer.

How many beds can one Signavanc Ultra station handle?

Up to 56 calling units per nurse station on the 26-port hub. Larger wards are split across multiple stations, each serving its own set of beds, and every station can also carry a mini nurse kiosk or tablet as a second display. We work the split out from your floor plan during the site survey.

What do the multi-colour door indicators do?

Each corridor indicator lights in a different colour depending on what kind of call was raised — for example blue for Code Blue, red for an emergency, green for a nurse call, yellow for housekeeping and orange for pantry. Colour mapping is customised to your hospital's protocol. It means a nurse at the end of a corridor knows what is needed before reaching the room. Signavanc Lite has a single red indicator instead.

Does Signavanc Ultra give reports?

Yes, both kinds. Each nurse station downloads the call log for its own ward, and consolidated reports across every station are held on the on-site server we supply. Consolidating them across wards needs a Cat 5/6 link with an RJ45 jack from each nurse-station server to the central server, so it belongs on the cable schedule from the start. HIS / EMR integration is available as an option. What Ultra does not do is push reports to the cloud for dashboards — for that you would look at Signavanc LR or Signavanc Air.

Is Signavanc Ultra NABH compliant?

Yes. It is engineered to satisfy NABH patient-call requirements — a call point at every bed and every patient-accessible washroom, audible and visible indication at the nurse station of which bed is calling, calls that latch until reset rather than auto-clearing, and a differentiated Code Blue. Response-time records held on the on-site server can be exported for clinical audit.
